The Dial Up – Jazz
The Dial Up
The Dial Up is a monthly open mic night based at the Seven Dials Club in Covent Garden, in the heart of London’s West End. Hosted by vocalist Alex Williams and pianist Jon Medcalf, The Dial Up is all about enjoying live music and performance! In the first half Alex and Jon, along with a varied list of special guests, perform some of their favourite songs from the jazz repertoire and beyond. Then in the second half you are invited to participate in the Open Mic! All forms of creativity are allowed and indeed encouraged! Alongside singers of every style and genre, from rock and pop to funk and soul we regularly welcome instrumentalists, authors and poets! Singers are welcome to browse our vast selection of songbooks and lyrics if they wish to be accompanied by Jon, or can bring sheet music, sing a cappella or accompany themselves!

Vocalist Alex Williams and pianist Jon Medcalf invite you to London’s newest jazz and audience participation night. In the first half sit back and enjoy a selection of well-loved and less familiar numbers from the jazz repertoire performed by Alex, Jon and special Guests!
Then during the interval put your name down on the list to perform in Act Two! Read a poem or monologue, play an instrument or sing a song from whatever genre you like….anything goes (well, almost)! There’s always a selection of songbooks for you to browse through on the night, ranging from jazz and musical theatre to pop and soul. Alternatively bring your own sheet music or even sing a capella!
