07: Photography Exhibition at the Seven Dials Club, 42 Earlham Street London WC2H 9LA
Showcasing the works of:
Edward Haynes / Michael Duke / Rory Lindsay
07 is carefully constructed of selected works by three of London’s most promising photographers of 2011.
Their mission?
To focus their lenses on Seven Dials & Covent Garden to encapsulate the area in their own vision.
Each artist has responded to documenting this historical area with their own distinct imagery.
The split-second street photography of Edward Haynes captures some of the areas most magical moments bursting with life. In stark contrast are Rory Lindsay’s eerily beautiful and surreal landscapes, taken while London sleeps. Haynes and Lindsay’s works are tied together by the silent voyeuristic shots of Michael Duke that explore what it is that makes this place tick.
07 is curated by Charlotte Meddings.
On the night of the Private View the Seven Dials Club will be unveiling the exclusive ‘Seven Dials Gin Punch’ made with Sipsmith Gin and created from seven ingredients closely linked with the area’s history.

Photographers Biographies:
Edward Haynes:
Edward has always found himself inspired by his surroundings, be it buildings, hedgerows, shop fronts or the people working in them.
After three years at Leeds University studying Environment and Business, Edward travelled to Africa and Croatia and was attracted to Societal events, rituals and parties. While documenting these Edward developed a style, aiming to combine his love for the natural environment and the characters within it.
After completing a diploma at LCC in 2009, He continued travelling, visiting the East coast of Australia where he continued to explore and develop his main interest; portrait work.
Edward has an unobtrusive and relaxed approach to his photography instantly making people feel at ease. He now assists London based photographers learning further skills towards his goal of waking up every morning to do a job he loves.
Edward is also opening his first solo show at Amnesty International in July 2011 and is a member of the Association of Photographers.

Michael Duke:
Born in Northampton and brought up in London, Michael spent many years living and working in Israel. It was during his years in Israel that Michael became a freelance photographer contributing to the Jerusalem Post, Ma’ariv, Popular Science in Israel and American Image Magazine based in Lewisville in the United States.
Michael got his first camera – a Kodak Brownie 127 box camera – from his parents as a tenth birthday present, but took a few years before taking photography a bit more seriously. He became the family photographic diarist with some of his images being popular – and some not so popular.
In February 2000, he joined up with Moshe Taub in Tel Aviv (a professional photographer) who was at the time the Chairman of the Tel Aviv Camera Club. Moshe helped give some direction to Michael’s photographic output and this culminated in Michael’s first exhibition in Central Tel Aviv. By 2004, Michael had another two exhibitions in Central Tel Aviv and one in Holon and appeared in a number of Tel Aviv Camera Club exhibitions which toured from Tel Aviv to Tzahala (north of Tel Aviv) to Haifa.
Early in 2004, Michael and Moshe joined forces with Rommi Goldhammer to form the Ventures Group of Songwriters, Poets, Artists and Photographers. Michael became the PR officer and built up a number of contacts and this caught good attention to the City Lights/Metro weekend arts and marketing magazine which ran a number of articles on the group – including a full page article written by Michael on the life of Rommi.
Due to world politics effecting the economy in Israel, Michael returned to London and soon joined up with the Hampstead Photographic Society. He served as PR Secretary (2005 – 2008) and Programme Secretary (2006 – 2008) and edit’s the HPS Newsletter, an item that he started in 2006 as ‘a thought in response to the club’s 70th Anniversary’. It caught on well enough for the club members to want it’s continued existence regardless of Michael taking a back seat on the running of the club. During Michael’s tenure on the committee, he organized three group exhibitions to celebrate the club’s 70th anniversary
Outside the club, Michael has had a number of one-man exhibitions in Barnet, Hendon, North Finchley, Whetstone, Warwick and took part in a number of group exhibitions in Friern Barnet, North Finchley, Swiss Cottage, Holburn and Warwick as well as winning a number of 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes and Very Highly Commendeds in competitions in Hampstead, Friern Barnet and The Isle of Wight where he has six images in a group exhibition currently showing in Ventnor.
Michael has given talks on photography in Golders Green, Hendon, Warwick and St. Johns Wood and has already taken on bookings for talks for 2011 including on Life in London and Life in Israel (both including a geographical overview of the locations) as well as on ‘People on the Move’ covering dance, culture, music and sport and photo-journalism.
Rory Lindsay:
Rory’s passion for making pictures was inspired by his parents who both were
keen photographers and gave him an Agfa Optima 1535 Sensor camera for his eighth birthday. He was completely hooked.
After 15 years working for some of London’s top advertising agencies,
numerous photography courses at Central St. Martin’s, in 2008 Rory decided to take the plunge and became the full-time photographer he had always longed to be.
Within a couple of months he had won his first photography award, for ‘Faces of Southwark’, and in 2009 was shortlisted for Digital Camera Magazine’s ‘Digital Photographer of the Year’ in the portrait category.
Rory now shoots regular editorial features for The Evening Standard, production stills for the BBC, and has a growing list of private, commercial and corporate clients, both in the UK and across Europe.
